Hidden gems of Paris – my top 5 tips, tours & unique sights

Paris is without a doubt one of my favourite cities in Europe, which I have visited for work and pleasure 10 times already. The architecture, the chique vibe, unique neighborhoods, quaint restaurants, multitude of museums, beautiful city parks and abundance of culture, heritage and history are some of the reasons this classy city keeps drawing me in.

And even though I have seen almost all of the popular sights already, Paris never ceases to amaze me, and I keep finding new hidden gems and unique things to do here. That’s why I decided to write this blog to share some of my most treasured spots and tips with you.

If you are looking for unique sights and a real authentic Parisian experience with a chic touch, then do read on, and let me show you my favourites through many of my own pictures:

Loire valley castle tour

Because I love castles, Paris, all its museums and sights and have visited many castles, as well as Versailles already, I also wanted to venture a bit more into the region this time, to be able to visit more castles.

Because I just had a few days here and no car, I found the perfect day trip from Paris, which enabled me to visit 3 castles in just 1 day: PARISCityVISION Loire Valley Castles.

During this full day excursion I was picked up early by private mini bus with a small group to discover the Loire Valley's most famous châteaux, just a 2 hours’ drive from Paris.

We visited the quaint town Amboise with its sophisticated Château, the amazingly beautiful Château de Chenonceau with multiple elaborate stunning gardens built across the River Cher. Here we also had a delicious lunch in the most beautiful setting.

And to top it off we visited the majestic Château de Chambord, which can not be missed! See for yourself in this gallery:

Because all of this was quite a lot for just 1 day it would also be a good idea to book their 2 day Loire valley castle tour in which you will even visit 5 castles in this beautiful region.

But if you prefer to stay in Paris you can also choose one of their popular Paris sightseeing tours, Seine cruises or skip the line tickets for the more touristic sights of Paris.

Explore Montmartre by 2CV

Next to Le Marais, Montmartre is definitely one of my favourite neighborhoods in Paris, because its authentic character, cute cobble stoned streets, real Parisian vibe, quaint shops and restaurants and many beautiful sights like the Sacre Coeur.

When in Paris a visit to this wonderful area can not be missed, but what will make it even more unique is to explore it by 2CV tour with Parisitour by car.

The Citroën 2CV is classic French car which makes the experience even more authentic, as well as the charming French guide, singing chansons during your drive past all the most Instagrammable spots in the neighborhood. He knew all the best sites and even acted as a photographer to take shots of me and my friend from all the right angles!

This certainly made the tour even more fun and a unique experience worth booking! See for yourself in this gallery:

Instagram photo city tour

I just love to explore a city with locals and am addicted to photography and Instagram, that is why this tour was perfect for me! My friend Coco, whom I’ve met though Instagram lives in Paris during the summer, and offers amazing and classy local tours through Paris, showing you all the most Instagrammable spots. She has many different tour options, as you can see here: Travellur Paris tours, but of course I booked the photo tour past the most classy spots in Paris.

Not only does Coco exactly know where to go and what to see, she also is one of the best photographers I know, as you can see by the end result:

For a chique experience and to discover all the best spots, make sure to book your tour with ‘’Travellur’’ already for next year spring or summer, when Paris is at its prettiest.

24/7 city guide by locals

But if you want to explore Paris on your own, don’t know any locals here yet, but would still like to have 24/7 local assistance I have another great option for you: INSDR Paris smartphone service

They offer full smartphone connectivity and native assistance throughout your stay in Paris through a personalized smartphone. Before departure, their team will provide a full support to optimize your schedule, by booking the greatest restaurants, sorting out transportation and so on, and once in France you will receive an INSIDR phone with a personalized digital concierge service and filled with tips, must visits and guides to explore Paris like a local!

Montmartre Paris (3)

No more hunting for a local SIM-card or free WIFI network, no more complicated maps and outdated guide books, as you will have this phone available for full use during your whole stay with 4G data, unlimited calls and personal assistance.

I really enjoyed the worriless 24/7 connectivity and just loved the What’s App group of locals, who I could ask for advice anytime, anywhere during my stay!

Musée Rodin

Forget about a tiring full day tour through the Louvre or getting in line for hours at the Musée d’Orsay, for a more quiet and unique museum visit and to relax in the stunning gardens around it Musée Rodin has my preference.

Of course the other museums in Paris are a must as well but I loved this museum as it was much more quiet and stunningly displayed in a classy mansion surrounded by landscaped gardens. I sat here for hours to enjoy this beautiful quiet spot in the heart of Paris surrounded by flowers and the beautiful statues of Rodin. And truly enjoyed my 1 hour tour through the well displayed expo’s in the classical mansion, which is a definite a must visit in my opnion if you enjoy sculptures and unique works of art. See for yourself in this gallery:

For a stay in the perfect location, just a few minutes’ walk from this museum, and the Musée Les Invalides, the Eiffel Tower, situated almost next to the Seine and the most iconic bridge of Paris: Pont Alexandre III, I found the perfect hotel for you: Hotel Le Pavillion in the 7th Arondissement, part of the Green Spirit Hotels group.

Located perfectly in the city center in a former convent, this historical building makes a unique setting with its flowery courtyard and delicious organic breakfast!

But there are so many more beautiful spots and sights in Paris I can recommend to you, all still quite unknown to mass tourism, very Instagrammable and real hidden gems in Paris, for example:

The gorgeous architecture of the Palais Garnier Opera house

The unique Grand Mosque

The colorful Sainte Chapelle

The mystical catacombs of the Conciergerie

Very Instagrammable Rue Crémieux

Amazing rooftop views from Galeries Lafayette and Hotel Peninsula

And dinner on one of the boats along the Seine with sunset views upon the Pont Alexandre III

These are all among some of my favourite hidden gems and luckily still lesser known unique sights and hotspots. I hope my pictures were able to convince you of that, but please do not tell every one😊

Did you know these Parisian hotspots and tours already and if so which one is your favourite? Do let me know in the comments below or find me on social media via the icons at the bottom of this page for more daily pics of Paris and my other travels.
